Cookie Chomp

COOKIE CHOMP is an original arcade game built for muhamad.org — a from-scratch homage to the classic maze-chase formula. Every layout, character, sound and name here is original work; what it borrows is the grammar of the genre: one screen, one maze, four pursuers, and the purest scoring loop ever designed.

You are Chompy, a kid with a bottomless appetite, loose in the bakery after hours. Eat every cookie on the floor to clear the room — but the kitchen brigade works the night shift, and they take their cookies personally.

The brigade

• GRUMBLE, head chef — the chaser. Rolling pin, furious mustache, and he wants you, always. Eat his kitchen nearly bare and the oven DINGs: he comes out of it angry — brows glowing, faster, and he never breaks off again.
• MUNCHBACK, sous-chef — the ambusher, hauling his flour sack. He doesn't aim at you; he aims at where you're going.
• CRAGGLES, pastry chef — the loose cannon, whisk in hand, hair escaping his hat. Fearless from across the room, cowardly up close.
• BARON BISCUIT, maître d' — the patroller. Monocle, bow tie, no hat. Sweeps the floor on his rounds, but pounces on anyone who wanders near.

The tricks

• Big Cookies turn the chefs to slow, worried dough (hats drooping, utensils dropped) — chomp a whole chain of them for 200, 400, 800, 1600. A chomped chef is reduced to a runaway hat scurrying back to the oven.
• The brigade moves in waves between patrolling their corners and hunting you. Watch for the tell: when every chef reverses at once, the mood just changed.
• Cut corners. Buffer your turn early and Chompy carves the corner like he means it. The tunnels wrap around the screen, and chefs are slow in them.
• A warm pastry appears twice a level. The clock on it is short.
• Clear the right rooms and you'll earn a COOKIE JAR RUSH — no chefs, a melting clock, and a floor full of jars. Take everything for a PERFECT.

The shop changes as you go — gingerbread bakery, icy freezer, strawberry shop, matcha house — and a second maze with two wrap tunnels joins the rotation from level 3.

Little details live everywhere: the chefs bake fresh in a glowing oven at the center of the board, the oven flares red when the head chef rages, and Chompy gets visibly rounder the more cookies he eats.
